STAR Councils Meet the Buyer – November 2018

The four Councils participating in the STAR Procurement shared service are coming together again on 22nd November 2018 for a joint ‘Meet the Buyer’ day.  This follows on from the success of the first joint Meet the Buyer day in June 2017 at Stockport Town Hall, when more than 150 businesses benefited from interaction with public sector buyers across the STAR Councils.  The November 2018 day will be held in Rochdale Town Hall.

The Meet the Buyer day gives suppliers across STAR Council areas and the wider Greater Manchester economy, the opportunity to find out what opportunities exist for supplying to local government, education, housing and health services.  It provides a unique opportunity to interact with these organisations.

On behalf of the host Council, Councillor Allen Brett, Leader of Rochdale Council, said “We’re really keen to use local suppliers wherever possible and recently launched a buy local campaign with this in mind. Buying local supports the local economy and jobs and that’s why developing local supply chains is so important to us.  Helping our local businesses grow and develop is a key priority for the council and I would encourage businesses to attend the event if they provide the goods or services that the organisations are looking for.”

Businesses can also take advantage of workshops delivered by STAR Procurement which will concentrate on aspects of the tendering process which are relevant to the public sector.  More information in respect of these workshops – including some regional workshops that will be hosted in the lead-up to the Meet the Buyer day, will be published on this website in the forthcoming days.

Please follow the links on this website for further information, including upcoming needs from the participating organisations, how to book an appointment with one of the buying teams and the range of workshops that will be delivered on the day and in the lead-up to the Meet the Buyer event.
